The question set forth to the disciples in Matthew 16:15 sounds so simple, "But who do you say that I am?" They had known Jesus, walked with him and seen his miracles. Yet like us, they lived in a noisy world surrounded by many fears, beliefs and cultures, all compelling in some way. Was Jesus simply a great teacher? An insightful social revolutionary? Another zealot among many? One can imagine they had days of doubt. Even knowing how the story ends with the Resurrection, even having experienced Christ in our life, we can still doubt or forget. In what do we trust? Who is worthy of salvation?
In this piece, Christ stands glowing like the sunrise. The seven statements of "I AM" are incorporated into the image as he asks you, the viewer and a beloved disciple, to answer the same question. He knows how St. Peter answered, but who do YOU say that he is?

Painfully shy as a child, Jen was unable to communicate with anyone outside her family except through drawing. Visual language was her first language and she never lost her passion for its ability to communicate for her. There was never a day she "decided" to become an artist. For Jen, there was just no other way to be. Jen Norton is a graduate of Santa Clara University where she earned a Bachelors degree in Fine Art, with a Minor in Business. Jen worked as a Graphic Designer in the Silicon Valley where developing marketing communications materials helped push her from purely personal expression to full conversation.
